I would like to share Bob’s article on how audio compression techniques have come a long way in the recording industry, and for good reason for my daily audiophile blog roundup. The average listener simply does not understand how lifeless and flat their music would sound on a regular audio system without it. Compression creates louder music which many of us take for granted. Also, compression adds to the dynamics of the track even though the dynamics haven’t been altered at all.
