“Virtual Band,” by Freddy Villano, shows how technology can allow people to come together to create a band without ever meeting in person. Mad July is a virtual band comprised of Dean Brantley Taylor, Marc Blackwell, and Juliet Lyons. Taylor is a songwriter and producer with a medical condition that makes it hard for him to leave his home. The internet allowed him to meet singer Lyons and producer/multi instrumentalist Blackwell, which lead to the creation of the band. Mad July works together to make their records online, communicating via email. They have been successful despite their geographical differences.
