Del McCoury learned guitar chords from his older brother. McCoury’s brother soon got a job and used his money to buy records. One of the records, with a banjo, had a great impact on McCoury. From then on, McCoury played the banjo as well as the guitar. Banjo jobs followed soon after, and then guitar and singing jobs.
