To reduce the airborne transmission of energy from an outside source, you must build a barrier between you and the noise. The barrier must be constructed to reduce the amplitude and frequency of all the noise from source. The noise must be measured (quantified) and then the proper materials (density) matched to the construction technique to ensure total noise frequency range coverage. There is no one size barrier that fits all noise.
