Hi Denis, hi everybody in the european world, is there meanwhile anyone, who made experiences in converting imperial values to metric in your DIY-plans?
So I do not mean the mathematics in this (That’s clear), but the practical approach buying wood in the standard dimensions of wood, for example in Germany!?
For example you write: 1/4″ basswood – thats translated in mm: 6,35 – should I round up, or should I round down – is 6mm the europen value?
What is the way? What is the recommendation or better: is there anyone with practical experience?
thanks in advance, Harald
Hi Harald, Material availability varies across the world. Choose the material and dimension that comes as close to the measurements that are listed and the material availability in your country. Tolerances are not that critical. A mm here or there will not make any difference in performance. Here is a link to a measurement conversion software we use: http://www.sciencemadesimple.c…..ersion.php
