Last week I was asked why we don’t sell acoustic reflective panels. Well reflections are our enemy. I would not want to design a device to make my enemy stronger. Every day we fight reflections because room acoustics is about two issues, pressure management and reflection management, so I don’t want to create a device that’s going to make my job harder.
Our rooms are naturally reflective unless your room has been acoustically treated. So reflections are not something we want to encourage. We want to minimize so all our technologies in the middle and high frequency area are designed to minimize reflections not increase them.
Now that said sometimes rooms get too dead and I think this maybe what the respondent is talking about here. If that’s the case then you need to use less sound absorption materials. You don’t want to introduce products that increase the reflection rate and level. You want to reduce the amount of absorption because reflections are a natural part of life and a natural part of almost all surfaces.
