Nemeth Balazs at Audiotuts+ lists five ways to facilitate the arrangement of tracks on a digital audio workstation (DAW). First, if several instruments in use are identical, the instruments may be condensed into a single group channel. Next, if the DAW supports labeling tracks using colors, each type of instrument should be assigned a color. The other three tips concern the use of return channels, drum racks, and instrument racks.
